Our self-tapping screws are manufactured with a cross recess (Phillips) drive, conforming to ASB 194 standards, and are available in three common head styles — countersunk (CSK) for flush finishes, pan head for general-purpose fastening, and raised head where a decorative or slightly domed finish is needed. This range covers most sheet metal, plastic, and light assembly needs without requiring a custom tool change for the customer.
We use SAE 1015, SAE 1018, 10B21, and 15B25 grades of steel depending on the strength and application requirement specified by the customer. After forming, every screw undergoes a hardening and tempering process, which is what gives self-tapping screws their key characteristic — a hard enough tip and thread to cut into the base material, while still retaining enough toughness in the body to resist snapping under torque. Getting this balance right is one of the more technical parts of self-tapping screw manufacturing, and it's an area we control closely through our heat treatment process.
To match different environmental and application needs, we offer the following coating options:
Self-tapping screws from New Star Industries are widely used across automotive components, electrical enclosures and panels, HVAC ductwork, and general sheet metal fabrication — anywhere a fast, secure fastening is needed directly into thin metal or plastic without a separate tapping operation.
Beyond our standard range, New Star Industries manufactures all types of fasteners as per customer specification. If your application calls for a different material grade, head style, or coating not listed here, share your drawing with our team and we'll develop it to your exact requirement.
